Magnolia’s Taylor is top PBL player
Chester Taylor may not be as popular as University of Santo Tomas teammates Jervy Cruz and Dylan Ababou, but the 6-foot-6 center knows his role very well.
Given the exposure he needs, Taylor knows he can get the job done — anytime.
Aware of Taylor’s talent, Magnolia coach Koy Banal has been so kind to him since the start of the PBL PG Flex Linoleum Cup, giving him the opportunity to flaunt his true potential to become one of the stars of the league.
Banal is indeed right.
With the trust and confidence given to him, Taylor has responded gamely and is now fast emerging as one of the league’s top attractions which he best exemplified last week where he produced his best game.
His 18 points in only 13 minutes in Magnolia’s 91-79 win over the Burger King Stunners last Thursday earned him his first Player of the Week award since joining the league last year.
Interestingly, among the players Taylor edged out for the weekly honors were Cruz, who is playing for Hapee, UAAP rival Rico Maierhofer of Harbour Centre and Magnolia teammate Ababou.
Taylor is actually the second player from Magnolia to win the award after Ababou took the opening week honor.
