Ginebra’s recent win is most lopsided in 15 years
MANILA, Philippines – Ginebra’s 37-point blow out win over Coca-Cola on Wednesday was the Kings’ most lopsided victory in the last 15 years.
The Gin Kings, behind Ronald Tubid’s 20 points, coasted to a 122-85 decision over the Tigers moving closer of securing the second outright semifinals berth.
Ginebra previously scored 35-point triumphs against Purefoods (119-84) in the All-Filipino Cup semifinals on March 24, 1998; sister team San Miguel (146-111) in Game 4 of the Philippine Cup Finals on February 16, 2007; and Welcoat (105-70) in the Fiesta Cup elimination round on May 18, 2008.
The loss was the third worst by Coke in the league after suffering a pair of 40-point losses at the hands of Sta. Lucia (122-75) and Purefoods (114-73) in the 2006-07 Philippine Cup wildcard playoffs and elimination round.
It was also the most lopsided contest this season surpassing Talk ‘N Text’s 22-point win against Coca-Cola, 133-111, on March 11.
Last season, the Tropang Texters scored a 129-100 rout of San Miguel Beer in Game 1 of the Philippine Cup semifinals on January 14, 2009.
San Miguel also breezed to a 29-point win over Ginebra, 118-89, during the Philippine Cup elimination round on October 22, 2008. – GMANews.TV
